Fatumloop 2007
While at Stradius in 2007, after creating a successful campaign for the annual Fatum sponsored triathlon event, I was asked to create a concept for the Fatumloop. Like the Fatum Triathlon, the Fatumloop (marathon) is a major annual event, which draws contestants from the whole South Carribbean region. The card shown above was to be handed out among visitors and contestants during the Fatum Triathlon in April, to promote the Fatumloop in October and came three months before the actual campaign kicked off.

The concept behind the design was to celebrate the fact that the event has been going strong for 24 years non-stop and to show the almost guaranteed blue skies on the island. The 24 is spelled by 24 pairs of running shoes from 24 runners. The actual concept for the production of the full campaign was to shoot the same image in real time on a transparent floor, with the 24 past winners (if available) making the 24 runners.

At the time there was no production budget and timebudget was limited. The client was so enthusiastic that the concept was used for the full campaign (ads, posters, billboards, tv) in July of that year. Unfortunately, though creating the concept as seen above, I had no control over the production of the full campaign, as it was produced after I left the agency and moved back to the Netherlands.

Stradius has been successfully designing the visuals around the Fatumloop event for the past years, increasing participation numbers consistently dispite fluctuating promotional budgets.
